LOUDER THAN THE ODDS: The Mr. Smalls Story is a feature-length documentary chronicling the extraordinary journey of Liz Berlin and Mike Speranzo, the husband-and-wife team behind Pittsburgh's legendary Mr. Smalls.

From Liz's adventures as a founding member of Rusted Root to Mike's groundbreaking work in the world of skateboarding, their individual journeys eventually came together in an unlikely love story that would change both of their lives.

Together, they transformed two historic churches in Millvale, Pennsylvania, into Mr. Smalls Theatre, one of the region's most beloved independent music venues, and The Sanctuary & Recording Studio, creating spaces for artists, musicians, and dreamers of all kinds.

Through intimate interviews, rare archival footage, unforgettable performances, and stories spanning more than three decades, the film explores the music, love, creativity, struggles, and determination behind Mr. Smalls.

But this is more than the story of a music venue. It's about taking chances, overcoming obstacles, building community, and refusing to give up on your dreams, even when the odds seem impossible.
