Bartees Strange is an English-born, Oklahoma-raised musician and producer known for his genre-bending sound that blends indie rock, folk, and electronic music. Born Bartees Leon Cox Jr. in Ipswich, England, in 1989, he was raised in Oklahoma by Black parents, including an opera singer mother. After playing in hardcore bands and working in the environmental movement, he launched his solo career in Washington, D.C., releasing albums like Live Forever (2020) and Farm to Table (2022)
