This year, Steel Kitty is gonna switch it up. Instead of focusing only on women in music, we are going to focus on ALL UNDERREPRESENTED voices. If you know Deb Cook and Steel Kitty Productions , then you know that this is the heart of their Mission Statement.
So, what does that mean?
I want to hear songs written or sung by WOMEN, PEOPLE OF COLOR, AND QUEER SINGER-SONGWRITERS. You have your assignment. I can't wait !!! Bonus points if you cover a local underrepresented artist.!!!! DEB COOK is a Pittsburgh-based artist, singer-songwriter, and producer whose voice has been heard alongside countless musicians throughout the region’s vibrant music scene. After years of collaborating and lending her vocals to a wide range of artists, Deb is now stepping into her own spotlight, creating original music in partnership with acclaimed Pittsburgh songwriter Adam Levine under the project Aliquid Novi. As the founder of Steel Kitty Productions, Deb has built a platform dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices in the arts. From curating open stages like AcoustiCafe to co-producing the Pittsburgh Women’s Music Festival, Deb has become a cornerstone in cultivating the city’s creative ecosystem. With Aliquid Novi, Deb transforms her years of collaboration into a new chapter of personal expression. Working with Adam Levine, she blends evocative vocals with layered, genre-bending arrangements that capture raw emotion and hidden moments of beauty. The band’s album HEAT(2025) showcases Deb’s evolution from a sought-after supporting artist into a dynamic front-woman and co-creator. Whether producing under the Steel Kitty banner or performing with Aliquid Novi, Deb Cook continues to shape Pittsburgh’s music culture—uniting her artistry, advocacy, and entrepreneurial spirit to uplift others while boldly embracing her own sound.
Tonight’s featured artist is the incredible CRYSTAL LEE MORGAN, a longtime and cherished member of the Pittsburghmusic community. Crystal has been a familiar face at the AcoustiCafe Open Mic for over ten years, and her journey as a songwriter is truly exceptional. Having worked across a remarkable range of genres—from punk and hip-hop to pop and country—she brings a vast perspective to the stage. This diversity results in an acoustic set of authentic, must-hear songs that focus purely on the quality and sheer joy of the writing. She's even experimented with over 50 AI tools for creativity, proving she's always forward-thinking, but ultimately, she prefers to sit down with an instrument to play for you. You don't want to miss seeing her play live at Mr. Smalls Funhouse in Millvale. Come out and give a massive welcome to Crystal Lee Morgan!
MALEENA DOMINICK is a Pittsburgh-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Drawing from her own life experiences, her songs are both deeply personal and universally relatable. With three albums under her belt, Maleena has a large catalog of music spanning from acoustic driven singer-songwriter tracks, to top-40 style pop songs, and even hardcore punk tracks
Acousticafe Show Details:
Doors open downstairs in Mr Smalls Café at 5pm for check-in.
Time-slots are chosen at 6:30pm.
Open stage begins at 7pm and runs until 11pm.
Full sound and light system with backline (drums, keys, guitar + bass amp) available, and a house band to back you up if you want!
(ps sometimes the drums are set up lefty, try to give us warning when you need to flip 'em!)
