Sat 10/04 91.3 WYEP presents Puss N Boots featuring Norah Jones, Sasha Dobson, and Catherine Popper with special guests Van Hayride 8:00pm All Ages
Recorded at Studio G in Brooklyn with engineer/mixer Joel Hamilton, No Fools, No Fun includes five original songs – two each from Dobson and Popper and one from Jones – and seven spirited cover tunes, all culled from Puss n Boots’ live repertoire. The 12-song collection takes its name from the lyrics of “Bull Rider,” a Rodney Crowell song made famous by Johnny Cash. “Bull Rider” is one of three album tracks that Puss n Boots recorded live in June of 2013 at The Bell House. Over the years, they have also performed at the Bridge School Benefit, played stadiums with the Beastie Boys on the “Get Out The Vote” tour and joined Wilco onstage at Madison Square Garden, singing background vocals on “Jesus, Etc.,” a song that Puss n Boots interprets on No Fools, No Fun.

Sun 10/05 Lil Dicky - The Professional Rapper Tour with special guest DJ Omega, Headphone Activist 8:00pm All Ages
Lil Dicky is the voice of the voiceless. In an era where rap is dominated by racial, social, and economic minorities, LD decided to put the upper-middle class on his frail, Jewish shoulders. The results have been monumental. His debut mixtape, So Hard, has been categorized as “funny,” and “impressive” by his friends. A non-traditional rapper, Lil Dicky uses a mix of comedy, lyrical ingenuity, and self-deprecation to spew out entertaining and relatable content.

Mon 10/13 91.3 WYEP presents OK Go with special guests Cutups & Keeb$ [Rescheduled from 9/21 - all 9/21 tix honored] 8:00pm All Ages
Of all the superlatives ever thrown at OK Go, “world’s most creative band” might fit best. Theirs is a project of the modern age, defined by vision as opposed to boundaries. It starts with a growing canon of infectious songs (the band’s fourth album is forthcoming), and explodes out from there into a million creative endeavors: their videos are art projects that the whole world sees; their live shows are immersive and surprising; their free time is invested in apps and op-eds and a host of other experiments that all fall under fun, ambitious, or just really cool to try.

Tue 10/14 mewithoutYou Catch For Us The Foxes 10 Year Anniversary Tour with special guests The Appleseed Cast, Hop Along 8:00pm All Ages
"Some of you may have heard of a record we put out on Tooth & Nail Records a little while back called 'Catch for us the Foxes.' Well that little while back is going to be 10 years on October 15th of this year. Yes, its hard to believe, we know, it will soon be a full decade of Foxes. It is no secret that the album has been a much-lauded fan favorite of our catalog. And in many ways it is the album that helped launched the career of our band and set us on the path where we find ourselves today. That is why for our 10 Year Anniversary of the album we are going to be celebrating in a couple different ways. The first of which we’d like to announce right now…We will be playing “Catch for us the Foxes” in its entirety, front-to-back, from Torches Together to Son of a Widow. ...after the first 46 minutes of the set when we finish the album performance we’ll be playing a short set of various other tunes from our other albums."

Fri 10/17 Finch with special guests Maps & Atlases, Wounds, Helen Earth 7:30pm All Ages
California-based emo rockers Finch, originally called Numb, include vocalist Nate Barcalow, guitarists Randy Strohmeyer and Alex Linares, bassist Derek Doherty, and drummer Alex Pappas. Strohmeyer actually had a hand in getting the band signed to Drive-Thru Records. The young guitarist contacted the label incessantly, intent on generating interest in his music. His fan mail and pestering even led to friendship of sorts with Drive-Thru owner Richard Reines. So when Strohmeyer inevitably pitched him Finch, he figured Reines was just being polite by listening. But Reines was genuinely enthusiastic about Finch and offered the band a contract. via AllMusic.com

Sat 10/18 tUnE-yArDs with special guest James Tillman 9:00pm All Ages
Merrill Garbus has performed as tUnE-yArDs since 2009, and that band name has always been synonymous with forward movement—whether because of her explosive performance style or the always-surprising way in which her songs unfold. First gaining notice with the debut BiRd-BrAiNs, which The New York Times called “a confident do-it-yourselfer’s opening salvo: a staticky, low-fi, abrasive attention-getter,” Garbus forged a reputation as a formidable live presence through relentless touring. In 2011, tUnE-yArDs released its second album, w h o k i l l, a startling and sonically adventurous statement that led to a whirlwind period where Garbus and bassist Nate Brenner accrued accolades from critics (including the #1 spot on the Village Voice’s 2011 Pazz and Jop poll), performed in front of increasing numbers of rapturous crowds around the world, and collaborated with the likes of Yoko Ono and ?uestlove. It was a thrilling ride, but it was one that needed a little bit of recovery afterward.

Wed 10/22 Live For Live Music Presents: Lettuce with special guests Exmag 8:00pm All Ages
After celebrating their 20th anniversary as modern day rulers of old school funk, the Brooklyn-based juggernaut Lettuce Is not showing any signs of slowing. Having blown up stages from coast to coast last year, ranging from The Fillmore in San Francisco to Terminal 5 in NYC, Bonnaroo to Pemberton and all points in-between, Lettuce is poised to continue their rapid growth throughout 2014. “We’re more together and set to crush than ever before,” says drummer and chief songwriter Adam Deitch of the all-star group that he and his accomplished band-mates cut their teeth with back in their Berklee School of Music days. That much history, along with the A-list crop of projects that each member has taken on away from Lettuce, gives the group a bottomless well of musical ideas and unrivaled chemistry—in fact, referring to themselves as a band of brothers.

Fri 10/24 Brimstone Coven with Special Guests Cruces, The Black Six, Starve, Patton 8:00pm All Ages
Brimstone Coven is a retro-hard rock / doom band from Wheeling WV. They created their personal blend of "Dark Occult Rock" in the early months of 2011. Corey Roth (Guitarist) wrote the first five songs, which would later become the bands self titled album, and hand picked three seasoned musicians from the areas scene. Andrew D'Cagna (Bass), Justin Wood (Drums), and "Big John" Williams (Vocals) to carry out his plan for sonic domination. Echoing the eerie reverberations of hard rock heavyweights such as Black Sabbath and Pentagram, mixed with the Classic Rock style of Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd, Brimstone Coven has created a Vintage sound and style all their own. Recently, with many shows, one album, new drummer Dan Hercules, and a second album (II) being released November 2nd 2013, the band strives to reach a wider audience and secure a spot among rocks greatest. Look for Brimstone Coven to make a name for themselves in the near future!

Tue 10/28 Pentagram with special guests Radio Moscow, Bang, Kings Destroy 7:30pm All Ages
Pentagram was initially formed in 1971 by Bobby Liebling (vocals) and Geof O'Keefe (drums) with Vincent McAllister on guitar and Greg Mayne on bass. After recording several demos throughout the mid-70’s, this line-up lasted until 1976. Much of the material that would be released decades later as "First Daze Here" was recorded by this original incarnation of the band. Read More

Fri 10/31 Foxy Shazam with special guests Shaky Shrines, SycAmour 8:00pm All Ages
Foxy Shazam has never been good at following the rules, but the latest chapter in their rollercoaster tale is undoubtedly the most groundbreaking. Exploring musical territory only hinted at in previous releases, the band's latest album GONZO depicts Foxy Shazam in their most penetrating and exposed form. It is at once this phenomenal band's most soothing, searing, heavy, biting, dreamy, and generally jarring statement to date, in a career built upon unorthodoxy. Prepare yourself for Foxy Shazam in their most penetrating and exposed form, their characteristic grandiosity clearly evident but captured in a severe new light.
