Sat 07/26 Sylvania with guests A Friendly Gesture, Lane 5, Home Again, Talion 6:30pm All Ages
Music is a way of life; a means of finding oneself. The unwavering brotherhood that is achieved through music is the catalyst behind the formation of Sylvania in May of 2011 by Vocalist Zach Geraci and Guitarist Brendan Harrison. Gaining experience through playing acoustically in open mic nights at local bars, the duo decided to begin writing their own music with other musicians. After 2 years and multiple failed rhythm sections, the duo found Percussionist Nathan Orr at a party on Memorial Day in 2013. Around the same time, Guitarist Zach Cain joined the band at the urging of Zach Geraci. Sylvania began practicing and writing music together during the Summer of 2013. After playing a few small shows without a bassist, guitarist Zach Cain decided to take a brief stint on bass guitar until a new bassist was found. After a few shows with Cain on bass, Kyle Pendergast was indoctrinated into Sylvania in December 2013 as the new bassist. With the permanent lineup in place, Sylvania began playing some of the biggest venues in the Pittsburgh area, such as the Hollywood Theater, Stage AE and Mr. Smalls. Currently, Sylvania is in the studio, working on their EP due to be released on August 2014.
